What is Project Ara - Google not only has a Google Glass project horrendous, but also the much talked Project Ara community. You want to know why? Because Project Ara want to realize the dream of assembling the phone itself as well as assemble a computer. Here are the facts you need to know Project Ara.

What is Ara Project ? Mobile Assembled From Google

1. Advanced Technology and Projects

Ara Project is actually part of the Advanced Technology Group and Projects (ATAP). This group is part of Google's Motorola Mobility are maintained when finally Motorola sold to Lenovo.

2. 2015

Mobile Project Ara is currently still under development and is planned to be sold in 2015.

3. Price $ 50

Google hopes to sell Grey Phone (Project Ara) for $ 50 for entry-level class. Grey Phone already has a display component, battery, processor, and Wi-Fi module.

As for the high-end class Google plans to sell it for $ 500. According to Paul Eremenko (chairman Project Ara), Google's mobile phone assembly is not sold in traditional markets, but through the online store.

4. Size

Project Ara phone size three. Namely Mini size (45 x 118 x 9.7 mm / module slots 2 × 5), Medium (68 x 141 x 9.7 mm / module slot 3 × 6) and Large (91 x 164 x 9.7 mm / module slot 4 × 7). In other words all phone sizes small to phablet available.

5. Module

Module Project Ara named Endo-shaped tiles and endoskeleton properties, can be connected to the phone via electropermanet magnet frame. In other words to stick and remove Endo to mobile framework using magnetic technology.

In order Endo can be installed / removed from the mobile framework is needed electrical energy. But when Endo already attached to the frame of the phone is no longer needed electrical energy.

Will be a lot of developers make use of open source modules MDK released Google. Camera, battery, antenna, processor and any components that can be loaded into the module will be available. 3D module framework will be printed according to user-specified design.

6. Buying Module

Google will sell the modules via an online store that cooperate Google Play Store. To help you buy a module, Google has 3 potential system. The first is Google selling Grey Phone and allows the buyer to purchase modules using applications that demonstrate the function of the selected module.

The second is to use the phone with a friend utilizing guest mode (guest mode) to test the module in the phone. The third system is through a pop-up kiosk physical.

7. Android

Currently the Android operating system does not yet support system module, but it is expected in early 2015, Android has been able to support dynamic hardware drivers of this assembly phone.

8. Prototype

Project Ara phone prototype will be shown in September of this year. The prototype shown today do not even have electropermanent magnet system. Team Project Ara use clips to keep the module remains in place. Power bus also still worked. In fact, the current prototype has a cracked screen!

9. Module Can Have Many Functions

Modules can have many features when the developer is implanting. A rear-facing display module can be used as a small battery to compensate for electrical power is depleted. If that developers can use it, why not.

10. Why do you Need?

Ara Project hopes to extend the life of the phone five-six years. Longer than the age of most smart phones today. Instead of buying a new phone every two years, you simply replace the new module to the processor or the latest megapixel camera. One more thing, lessons from the breakdown of Project Ara prototype screen is that you can quickly change the screen without having to send it to a service center.

11. Why Developers Need?

The modular system allows developers to create device hardware / software that is directly connected to the phone. It also removes the constraints of mainstream industrial markets in which the device is made to compromise with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and so on. The modular system will create a new market, the mobile phone market assemblies.
